Adobe Photoshop CS5 is the new version of graphics editing program,
which is part of Adobe Creative Suite 5, and is replacing Adobe
Photoshop CS4. Once released for retail purchase, hackers had managed to
crack the activation system of Adobe Photoshop CS5 by using keygen (key
generator) to create a fake but accepted valid serial key number, and
then modifying the hosts file and using a cracked amtlib.dll to prevent
Adobe programs to contact and communicate with Adobe’s server for
activation purpose.
On 64-bit Windows 7, Vista or XP
operating system, after installing the 64-bit (x64) version of Adobe
Photoshop CS5, the application may not run properly or cannot start with
the following error message, after user replaces the amtlib.dll file.
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.

The
issues happens because the amtlib.dll for 64-bit version of Adobe
Photoshop CS5 is different from the 32-bit version of amtlib.dll. When
users attempt to crack or pirate Adobe Photoshop CS5, a cracked or
hacked version amtlib.dll is required to be copied to
%ProgramFiles%\Adobe to replace all amtlib.dll files that used by
various Adobe programs. However, the amtlib.dll is of 32-bit (x86)
version only with file size 891 KB. The 64-bit (x64) of amtlib.dll has
the file size of 1.18 MB.
In 64-bit OS, the 64-bit
program of Adobe Photoshop CS5 is installed into “C:\Program
Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit)” folder, while the rest of the
programs which are 32-bit, are installed into sub-folders of “C:\Program
Files (x86)\Adobe” folder. Thus, the correct method is to only replace
and overwrite amtlib.dll which is located inside “C:\Program Files
(x86)\Adobe” folder, and does not touch or modify the 64-bit version.
For
users who have backup the 64-bit amtlib.dll in
“%ProgramFiles%\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64 Bit)” folder, just replace
back the original amtlib.dll, and the Adobe Photoshop CS5 will work
properly.

I cannot be thankful enough for this blog. The thing was, I had already installed Adobe InDesign CS6 from another source (Demonoid.com) and had some of its Application up and running, after I copied and pasted the amtlib.dll file in their root folders (the 64-bit one). But I did that for all the programs.
I now realised that the the x86 files are installed in 32-bit, so the dll corresponding to 32-bit must be pasted in the root of these folders.
